Women's Team Holiday Party
(from Coach Kris Sanford)
We finished off the fall semester Saturday night with a team holiday party at my house. When you come to Syracuse as a freshmen, you are put into a "family" consisting of a few people from every class. You stay with that family for your entire time here.
We do this to provide an immediate in with the team and to help the transition as a freshmen. Throughout the year, we do different competitions where they are split up into families. The seniors are the "moms." For the Holiday party, each family had to bring a full course meal. This could include anything they wanted. They were judged on taste, presentation and creativity. They were AWESOME! The judges were all of the coaches (myself, Alicea, Erica, Pete and my husband Craig.) we were WOWED.
The winning team had artichoke heart dip and crab dip for an appetizer, a green salad, sweet potatoe casserole, a FULL ham, a yule log and they made a homemade orange and blue cake with edible penguins for frosting. Other highlights were squash soup and fresh moose straight from Alaska. The party ended with a gift exchange. It was all great fun and a wonderful way to end the semester.
